The Athens model is a real gold medal winner. This sports flooring system was installed in the “Faliro – House of Handball” competition venue for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens with a Taraflex Sport M surface. Despite its low price, the system stands out for its high performance, which impressed both officials and players.
The Athens model consists of two components: the HARO Elastic Layer and two layers of HARO Load Distribution Modules, which are installed on a level subfloor. The evenness must comply with DIN 18202:1997-04, Figure 3, or be established subsequently. This can be done, for example, by dry fills or fillers. The modules are made of high-quality northern birch plywood. The elastic layer is laid loosely over a large area. The pressure distribution modules are then glued and stapled together.
The synthetic surface is then glued to the pressure distribution modules. With a construction height of only 33 mm, the Athens model is the perfect choice for renovation projects. Athens meets all requirements according to German DIN V 18032-2; April 2001, EN 14904. It is quality tested according to RAL GZ 942 and has building authority approval.
